How it works

Six phases, one science-based integrated process — from coarse particle filtration to mercury-free UV-LED disinfection. No mystery, but a system you can actually understand.

STEP 1

Coarse particle filter

Before any fine filtration begins, incoming water passes through a coarse screen that captures larger particles, sediment and debris. This first layer of protection prevents downstream filters and components from clogging prematurely, and keeps flow consistent through the rest of the system.

STEP 2

Anti-scale conditioner

Rather than removing minerals from the water, this stage changes how dissolved calcium and magnesium behave, reducing their tendency to form hard limescale deposits on pipes, taps and appliances. This is the key structural difference with reverse osmosis, which strips out minerals along with everything else.

STEP 3

5-micron sediment filter

A finer sediment filter removes particles down to 5 microns, including fine dirt, rust and sand that the coarse filter lets through. Clearer water at this stage also improves how effectively UV light can penetrate later in the process.

STEP 4

Granular carbon filter

Water passes through activated granular carbon, which adsorbs chlorine along with many of the compounds responsible for unwanted taste and odour. This is typically the stage with the biggest impact on how the water actually tastes.

STEP 5

Carbon block filter

A denser carbon block filter polishes the water further, catching finer particles and residual compounds that granular carbon can miss due to its looser structure. Together, the two carbon stages provide layered, more consistent filtration.

STEP 6

UV-LED disinfection

In the final stage, water passes a mercury-free UV-LED light source that neutralises bacteria and other microorganisms. The LED only activates while water is flowing, which reduces energy use and gives it roughly three times the operational lifespan of a conventional UV lamp.
